I have been a patient at Holmes Chapel Surgery since 1983, and I feel that I have been extremely lucky to have always been treated by so many caring professionals at the practice, despite the growth in the number of patients and government cuts. The reception staff have a very difficult task when allocating appointment times, but they are always helpful and offer alternatives where appropriate. They deal with impatient patients admirably, in my view. Similarly, the dispensary staff have to deal with the "48-hour" prescription turnaround, but I have seen them go above and beyond this, especially when dealing with elderly people and patients who have forgotten to order their vital medication. Everyone is caring and professional in their approach. I have, over the years, seen almost every doctor at the practice, and I am thoroughly satisfied that they always have my best interests at heart. They explain everything to me clearly, allowing me to ask questions and put me at ease when I am concerned. I particularly like this Patient Interface which allows me to book routine / non-emergency appointments, and to get information about training days etc. Many thanks to you all.

I am extremely annoyed by latest experience re long standing repeat prescription. The last clear instruction that I had concerning submitting repeat requests to the practice was 'allow 2 clear days' - I was aware that delays were increasing so on this occasion I put the request in the box in the entrance a full week before I needed collection - lunch-time on Monday 16th. On asking the chemist today (23rd at 12.10) it was not there. The Practice receptionist confirmed it was processed on Friday and was probably still in the surgery awaiting collection, produced a huge wad of prescriptions, offering to go through them all to check. Having been delayed (and now annoyed) I left. Why it took 5 days from delivery to 'processing' is hard to understand or justify.

My recent experience of the care provided by the surgery for my son was exceptional; Dr Bailoor in particular far exceeded expectations in terms of follow up. I was able to get an appointment straight away. In terms of administration on initially arriving at the surgery, the last few times that I had visited the practice, I have found that reception has been completely overwhelmed. The queue is always several patients long and it would seem that a second computer and receptionist may be required. In terms of waiting times, I have often had to wait longer than the 20 minutes quoted on the screen in the waiting area. However, each doctor that I have seen takes the appropriate time to properly listen and consider the problem so I feel that perhaps the target appointment times are a little keen rather than but being anything that the doctors are doing insufficiently. Overall the service provided is excellent and I feel the recent negative press in the Knutsford Guardian is unfair.

All staff work hard to provide an excellent service. Only issues that arise are clearly due to pressures caused by high demand for appointments. Working cooperatively usually brings about a solution and we as patients need to take this on board too. Continuing to encourage Reception staff to show patience and empathy when things go wrong is very helpful, I find. In my experience the knowledge that patients and doctors are jointly responsible for our health helps me feel less powerless and more able to tolerate delays/difficulties.
